At Flinders Island Gourmet Retreat at Cooma House (FIGR)
Flinders Island Gourmet Retreat is suited to hosting small retreats, special events, corporates and intimate weddings. We offer to indulge groups seeking private time in one of Tasmania’s best places where you’re looked after.
Stretch your legs along the paths down to the sea. Immerse yourself within our jewelled labyrinth or find a bush ‘chapel’.
Smell the beach and the salt-wet rocks. Feel the air move - and watch the eagles fly. Slow right down.
The creation of our cooking schools at FIGR fulfils a lifelong ambition to present the wonderful produce of Flinders Island and we enjoy having our guests experiencing garden-to-kitchen-to-plate. We can supply some lovely wines and cordials to complement the meals.
We have 5 newly built bespoke rooms each with en-suites, plus a bunk room.
In your room it’s private, snug and comfortable and you have a smart TV served by satellite. Your en-suite is bright and private. Enjoy our little reading nook, browse our library and sit in a chair together with a N’Espresso coffee.
Inside, we have two small meeting spaces; there’s a sheltered outside studio providing seaside views, a north facing courtyard for cafe or bbq and long tables with chairs on the eastern veranda.
There are opportunities to book scenic flights, golf, charter fishing, bushwalking or history and other tours of the island. Programs for partners are available too.
You are wished many blessings during the time you are in attendance at FIGR - and ever after.

My passion is sharing Flinders Island life, hosting guests, telling the stories, valuing and creating meals from Flinders Island to honour the environment, the seasons, and most importantly, my guests.
In our recently refurbished building we have created different rooms to cater to your needs and tastes.

In my cooking experience I have worked with some of Australia’s leading chefs and developed my own approach. I offer a taste of Australia’s origins at my cooking schools as we have access to game, a flavour variation for our table. I am influenced by a fusion of French and Asian cooking styles which have evolved into our uniquely Australian cuisine. Go to the cooking school page.
